An object at rest typically has multiple forces acting on it, but they add to give zero net force on the object. Speed is the rate at which an object changes its position. When the net force on an object is not zero, the forces are unbalanced. When the net force on an object is zero, the forces are balanced. Net force is the sum of all the forces acting on an object.
